gdmflexiserver --xnest does not start

gdm:

Description of problem:
Applications -> System Tools -> New Login in a Window
gdmflexiserver --xnest fails with following message:
Can not start display
The X server failed. Perhaps it is not configured well.

gdmflexiserver works normally
X server is working

Expected bahaviour: a gdm login window inside of the current desktop

What happened instead:
The gdm login window is not started, instead a warning window with above message

Thanks for your comments. This does not appear to be a bug report as such. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise your question in the support tracker. http://launchpad.net/support

There a menu entry titled "New Login in a Window" selectable within the gnome menu editor. Running this menu item produces the error message "Cannot start new display. The X server failed. Perhaps it is not configured well."

I wouldn't mind an explanation of how this is not a bug.

Andrew, check you have Xnest installed, it is not installed by default
