Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I was unable to recreate this bug using apt version 0.7.9ubuntu17 from Hardy Heron. Which particular version of apt do you have installed? You can check via 'apt-cache policy apt'. Thanks in advance.
