Firefox endlessly restarts finished download after restart

Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox
Firefox finished a download and after a while crashes. After a restart of Firefox and choosing "restart previous session" it starts to download the file again.
An attempt to open the download dialog box and interrupt the download results in a froozen Firefox application.

What I expected:
* the download is finished so it should not start after a Firefox restart
* the download dialog should honor my request to stop the download and not freeze the application
