Hi,

Are these fonts really needed?
Evince seems to be able to read chinese pdf files with the packages listed on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Multilingual_support_(East_Asian)#Debian-based_GNU.2FLinux
Does it work on acroread with these packages installed?

The document with which I most recently encountered the problem is:

Evince handles it correctly but Adobe Reader 8 needs the font packs even though there are only a very few Chinese characters in this one.
