Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I was migrating from Gutsy to Hardy. It began with samba-common failing to upgrade (already reported), and then all of the upgrade process was stalled.

I'll attach the upgrade logs. I doubt I'll be able to further report (I only came to upgrade this machine).

Were you prompted for a samba configuration file change ? If so, what did you do ?

I'm almost sure it did, because I wondered why it asked to overwrite a file I never touched. So I confirmed to overwrite it.

I should add that ubuntu-mininal and -desktop were installed.

Hervé,

Could you please provide copies of the /etc/samba/smb.conf* files from this system?

There should never be a prompt for the configuration file on upgrade unless you've manually changed it before, so I would like to see what's happening here.
