Bug Description

I'm not sure what this should be reported against, so I chose gnome-themes.

Some icon themes cause several different Gnome components to start eating
memory. I have only had this problem with "Dropline Etiquette", but I haven't
really used many icon themes.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Download and install "Dropline Etiquette" icon theme.
  2. Go to theme selector and select the Etiquette icon theme.
  3. Launch top and watch gnome-panel, nautilus and epiphany go crazy. After a
short while they will have eaten all available core and swap. You won't be
able to launch any applications until you do a few kill -HUPs.

This is 100% reproducable on my system. Switching back to default icon theme
solves the problem.

Do you still have the problem in Dapper or Edgy?
