[hardy] Bluetooth Serial Port undiscoverable

Pami, which cellphone do you use?

I use Nokia N95 8GB.
I think that it doesn't matter because the connection works fine in Feisty and Windows, and even in hardy if I specify from the phone which bluetooth channel to use. As far as I understsand the problem seems to be that Hardy doesn't reply correctly to the discovery request in case of bluetooth serial ports. Unfortunately I don't have any other bluetooth devices so that I could do some more testing.

I asked because I'm just seeing the same issue with my N95 8GB (FW:
20.0.0.16).
Do you have the same firmware or (hopefully) an older one?

Can you please test, if you can send files from the mobile to the
hardy-system, after enabling "receive files from remote hosts" in the
hardy-bluetooth-dialog?

Besides of the bluetooth-console, this doesn't work either with my Nokia
but it works with an older Siemens S55 or with another hardy-system.
I think that these issues are related.

Attached you can find the hcidumps of my nokia and my siemens mobile,
when trying to send a vcard.

Apparently I can't find any information on debugging-procedures
concerning bluetooth in the ubuntu wiki.

OK, my phones FW is 15.0.0.15 and it seems that sending files fails also. But then again, in Feisty sending files from phone works fine.

Looking at the hcidumps, there seems to be some differenses in the service discovery requests sent by S55 and N95. So I dont know if the problem is that N95 sends some kind of malformed request or is the SDP-system in Hardy broken. Someone who is more familiar with the bluetooth protocol could probably help with this. Also any kind of advise in further debugging of this situation would be welcome.

I can confirm this bug. Just tested it on Feisty -> Works, Hardy -> Fails. Tested with Nokia 6630, Anycom USB-200 Bluetooth adapter...

I'm not sure if this is because of this bug, but I can't connect Amora from my Nokia E51 to my Ubuntu Hardy laptop. Amora is a remote control software for S60 phones.

I confirm this bug, tested with the following devices: Nokia N93, E61, E65, N95 and a Thinkpad T60 .

To Rostislav Raykov: yes, the bug is related since Amora client expect to see a server running with serial port profile (ID list 0x1101) in the PC.

I confirm this bug, tested with Nokia 6110. On Gutsy it works, on Hardy fails.

The issue seems to be the same as here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez-utils/+bug/211252 ,
and it has been fixed, we just have to wait for the updates to reach Hardy

Meanwhile this can be fixed by using the bluez-utils package from Debian Sid:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/i386/bluez-utils/download

Have the same bug on Hardy and Nokia 7610.

The debian package did not fix it for me, unfortunately.

Now, after I installed the debian package, played around with rfcomm for a few hours and did a few restarts it works eventually.

Can we expect a bugfix to the bluez-utils package anytime soon?

It's sad that we always have to fiddle around with things for hours that have worked before because, in fact, Ubuntu is the best system out there.

IMHO this bug is not duplicated to 211252, the otherone is obex related....
BUT i have the same problem on Windows :S im googling this right now.... just in case, who had this problem with a phone NOT made by Nokia???
i also have a n95 like Pami....
