Bug Description

Using current bzr.dev (r3418) as client, server, and branch to log.

Running `log --limit 10` (no aliases in effect, so this is --long)

Running locally in dir takes 8.5-9 seconds.

Running over sftp://localhost/ takes about 11 seconds.

Running on bzr+ssh://localhost/ takes 7 minutes and 20 seconds.

Oddly, bzr://localhost/ finishes consistently in 5 minutes.

Hi,

With r3499 client and server I don't see the same. Using an older server shows
the problem though, so I think this is a v2 protocol problem.

Thanks,

James

Hi,

Here's a bzr.log from the test. Apologies that it is a bit messed
up due to using the same machine for client and server. If there's
a big time gap at the start it's waiting for me to enter my password.

I marked this low as it seems to be a v2 problem. I doubt much
time will be spent on v2, and it may be "Won't Fix".

The other option is "Fix Released", as the performance problem
is solved by v3.

Thanks,

James

This is no longer an issue with the new version smart server. My pending changes for 2.5 will make it even quicker.
