Updating to 8.04 from 7.10 and it said "The upgrade aborts now"

Bug Description

First i got these two "errors"
ibritish
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

'language-support-writing-en'
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

Then i got the final

The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.
installArchives() failed

So now i have half ubuntu 8.04 half 7.10..its gutsy heron !

Hi crazy and thanks for your bug report. I am going to mark this as Confirmed since your report looks good, but would you mind adding the attachments individually? This will make it easier for the developers to see what logs are here, and to examine them easier, and move this bug along.

Okay crazy, thanks for your quick turnaround! I set the Importance as High as it seems to have a pretty severe impact on what I estimate is a small portion of users. Thanks to your logs it should be ready for the devs. Thanks for using Ubuntu and for contributing!

This looks like a dup of bug 223807 which was not reproducible.
