GIMP color wheel looks ugly

Bug Description

When I change color in apps like Gimp/Inkscape, color wheel doesn't use antialiasing.

I remember Gnome 2.12 has solved this nicely in 2005 - look at the http://www.gnome.org/~davyd/gnome-2-12/ and scroll to the GTK+ 2.8 section.

Why can't we have this in Ubuntu?

The wheel is antialiased in gnome apps (for example gnome-color-chooser) but not in gtk+2.0 apps.

in fact the color wheel in inkscape is not a standard color wheel. see bug 170046.

Does gimp has it's own color wheel too ?
Leaving affected to gtk+2.0 for now until further information.

Gimp also has it's own handmade Color Selection Widget. There are 2 issues here, one with inkscape and one with gimp. The Inkscape issue is bug #170046.

I think so. In every application using standard color chooser (like Gnumeric, gnome-appearance-properties, checkgmail), it looks good. I should have checked that, this seems to be Gimp and Inkscape's issue.

Thanks for the tip Sébastien. The demo confirms that Gimp has it's own color selector. This issue has been reported upstream.

Upstream dev said it won't be fixed until the color selector is ported to Cairo.

The bug as been re-opened upstream and someone is working on it.

Fixed in upstream SVN. We'll have this with Gimp 2.6.x, probably in Intrepid+1
