Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

It would be nice if there was an option to pause playback on the screen saver locking.

I'd expect that there would be some cases where this would not be desirable, but in my case if I'm not in front of the screen I'm not listening to media. My usual experience is:

 * sit at desk with headphones on, playing media
 * if I need to leave my desk, hit a button to activate the screen lock
 * then realise that media is still playing so unlock the screen
 * activate the pause feature in the media player
 * lock screen again

But it could be a good idea to lock the screen and keep the music coming.. I'll do that sometimes, when I just want to listen to music and leave the computer.

Untill banshee supports this natively the attached python snippet will do the job. It has a known problem that it will launch banshee when you lock the screen if it is not already running. I don't know enough about dbus to prevent this, and it doesnt bother me enough to make me figure it out (banshee is always running anyways).

This is the same as the previously posted script except this will not activate banshee if it is not already running.
