Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

Open Office Writer has just started to crash when trying to 'save' or 'save as' any file that has been opened by double clicking on it from within the documents folder. If I run Open Office Writer from the Applications menu and then open the file from the toolbar I can save normally.

There was an update about two days ago which I allowed for all of the OpenOffice apps and after applying them, I have been unable to start any of them. I see the splash screen and the first menu bar and then the screen goes black. It resets my gnome session and I find myself back on the gdm login prompt. Am I in my own little island or is anyone else seeing this?

I have a similar problem, I first noticed it using OODraw about 4 days ago. I open OODraw from the applications menu, try "Save" or "Save As" and OODraw crashes. If I run:

:~$ oodraw
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!

and the program starts fine and I can save without a problem.

Ubuntu 8.04 proposed repo enabled x86_64
