Reproduced the crash with the following use :

VLC as client of an RTSP stream over IPv6:
vlc rtsp://[2001:6f8:334::1]:1234
VLC media player 0.8.6e Janus
Erreur de segmentation (core dumped)

VLC as server transcoding an MpegTS(DVB-S) over HTTP stream to an mpeg4 over mms IPv6 address

# http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

new euronews broadcast enabled

Vlc does not crash, it just cannot open the stream.
Totem opened the stream without complaining, mplayer crashed a little before playing the stream.

Attached is the verbose output from vlc when opening rtsp://rm-live.sr.se/broadcast/p3.rm, a stream from a Swedish radio channel.

There have been a large number of bugfixes with the latest VLC release, 1.0.0~rc2-1ubuntu1. Can you reproduce your issue with this latest version? You can test this in Ubuntu Karmic, or Ubuntu Jaunty with the MOTU Media PPA at https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/ppa . Thanks in advance.

In fact it's working with the current version of vlc on jaunty.
