Bug Description

Some parts of Polish translation are missing. There are some new options in
evolution (if they were not translated I'll be happy to use this new "translate
program" feature), but also old options lost their translations (comparing to
Hoary).

(BTW: I am not sure whether this is evolution or language-gnome package bug. I
decided to be more specific.)

(I use Breezy upgraded from Hoary, but in Breezy-only (but this time upgraded
from colony 2) system it was the same).

Thanks for your bug. Could you provide a screenshot or describe some example of
strings having the issue?

Missing translations (in some points I give English strings, in some I give
Polish strings retranslated into English, so they may be different from original
English versions):
1. Date in mail lists.
2. Menus:
- in File:
Save messgage, Subscribe to.., Permissions, Close window, Quit,
- in Edit:
all except Copy and Preferences;
- in View:
all except Current view, Window, Toolbar, internal menu for switcher (the name
"Switcher" itself is not translated), hide deleted, hide read, show hidden, encoding
- in Folder:
all except clear (ctrl+E), rename, delete, properties
- in Message ("message" itself)
post new message to..., open in new window, mark as (and in internal menu all
except continue), check for junk, create rule (in internal menu all "search..."
strings), mailing list (including internal menu)
- in Find
advanced search, create folder from...
3. Sidebar
"Search folders"
4. In Preferences
- Accounts:
receiving options, Message receipts, send message receipts, folder names in
"default" ("sent" and "drafts")
- Message editor preferences:
language names
5. Send and receive
"retrieving pop summary" and following strings

I'll be happy to help if necessary - some of these strings were in place in 2.0
and 2.2, so they don't need to be translated, point 5 was a problem for all 2.x,
but as it was irrelevant for usability I haven't reported it (but I'm almost
sure it was translated in evo 1.4). If any translating is necessary, I can do
it: the only question is how? Using the translation option in Help menu, or a
.po file?

There is more:
1. In a new message:
"attachment bar", "# attachment"
2. Attachment dialog:
"attach"
3. Mail list - new attachment bar
"# attachments", "Save all"

To some extent. Generally there are more translations now, but still some annoying things are missing, and I couldn't really find them in .po files downloaded from rosetta (but I'm not too proficient with those):
1. "Search Folders" everywhere
2. "Retrieving pop summary" (.mo file shows translated string)

I've tried German locale just to compare with Polish: "search folders" are translated, while "retrieving pop summary" is left in English.

This should be verified in Rosetta. If the strings are marked as translatable in the code, then there's nothing wrong in 'evolution'.

I downloaded a .po file from Rosetta and some strings including "Search Folders" are translated into Polish as "vFolder".

However, in evolution all strings containing "search folders" are left in English (in German locale they are translated). Also "retrieving POP summary" is still in English (both Polish and German). The same for "expunging deleted messages" (at least in Polish).

I'm sorry, but I don't have time to take part in the translation process. I reported this bug, because it seemed that some strings translated in earlier versions got lost in the new version. As I wrote in my original report, I was not sure whether this was Evolution or language pack issue.

I subscribed the Polish Translators - hopefully they can bring light into this issue.

Too bad translations aren't automatically backported as "fuzzy".
There are brand new translations from GNOME-PL, but uploading files is locked (yes, Rosetta infrastructure is scary). I will approve available "backported" translations in Breezy and Dapper by hand, but Edgy, also having untranslated strings, must wait for update.

To Rafal - most translators seem to use latest version. If you wish to help, please go to https://translations.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/breezy/+lang/pl , register in Launchpad, add suggestions and ping me or <email address hidden> to approve them.

Let's close it. The translation in dapper is more complete now, and probably even better in edgy/feisty.
