Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Steps to reproduce:

-login with activated desktop-effects or turn it on.
-press on a round application-launcher icon. (top panel, near system menue) (take the Help-icon and a dark desktop-background for better contrast)

after pressing the icon, the icon should "zoom out" fluently,
BUT only the FIRST TIME starting this animation, there appears a UGLY GREY BOX jittering around the zooming icon. (only for about 0,5sec) (the area should be fully and clean transparent!)

-press the icon again, and everything works good.

I have noticed this Bug on following systems:

Ubuntu 8.04.1 64-bit, nvidia,
Ubuntu 8.04.1 32-bit, intel,
both fresh installed.

it's barrely noticable, could you open a bug about that on bugzilla.gnome.org where people reading the code if you care about that, the ubuntu doesn't have the ressources to work on such details

the bug should be sent upstream by somebody having the issue, anybody else wanting to do that?

Forwarded upstream, but I have misgiving that this is more a compiz related bug.

I am now on "new" hardware:
nvidia 9500GT with prop. 177 driver and
nvidia 9600MGT with prop. 180 driver

(on Intrepid)

I think this bug is fixed for me. (never seen this issue again)
