I cannot modify Firefox bookmarks, neither adding new ones or deleting old ones

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When I do attempt to modify, Firefox allows me to make the change, but doesn't record it beyond the current session. If I close Firefox out and re-open it, all changes are lost.

Thank you for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This seems like a permission issue, as such can we get you to open a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and enter
"ls -l .mozilla/firefox/*/bookmarks.html" (without the quotes) and paste
the output here?

It should look like "-rw-r--r-- 1 user user 7139 2008-04-23 21:48
.mozilla/firefox/<profile>/bookmarks.html"

I have the same problem with ff3.0.5...i'm a intrepid user and recently upgrade my ff after a clean install...this are my bookmarks permissions...i've tried to modified them openning ff as root but didn't work at all....any hint?

ok, this worked fine for me.....
"chown -R username .mozilla" it must have been a permission problem...

I'm working with 32bit/Ubuntu/8.04, Firefox/3.0.5 and all this didn't help for me.
