Bug Description

Binary package hint: udev

Toshiba TS705 mobile phone is not detected when plugged in using Hardy.
In order to configure a PPP connection, it requires a rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d (mine is called /etc/udev/rules.d/51-3g-datacards.rules) containing following lines:

SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="05c6", SYSFS{idProduct}=="3197", RUN="/sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0x05c6 product=0x3197"
KERNEL=="ttyUSB0", SYMLINK="modem", GROUP="dialout", MODE="0660"
KERNEL=="ttyUSB2", GROUP="dialout" MODE="0660"

For now, I see this line in drivers/usb/serial/moto_modem.c in the kernel source:
{ USB_DEVICE(0x05c6, 0x3197) }, /* unknown Motorola phone */

danielgd, can you please confirm that this is still an issue for you?
thank you for your efforts

At the moment the mobile phone is detected and even appears in Network
Manager as a proper 3G connection.

I could not test if it works as I have to top up my mobile.

I'll reply again in a few days.

Thank you for keeping this bug attended, things like these make me recommend
Ubuntu to everyone almost everyday.
