Bug Description
Binary package hint: abiword
open a new abiword document.
paste this hot beverage into your document "☕".
I see ° but if I reselect and copy that and paste it back into a gtk entry or this firefox edit window I get my beverage back.
Choice of font does not change this.
I think it is using '°' as the missing glyph marker, but why would I want to see that, rather than the glyph I pasted?

This symbol in Abiword 2.6.4 can be displayed by hiliting the character, then changing the font to webdings. In Hardy with Abiword 2.4.6, you must install the msttcorefonts package to get the webdings font. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better.
