Hi oss-test-launchpad,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Don't know if the following has been generated automatically after some update or if this is still the xorg.conf from manual entry - I encountered quite a few xorg.conf issues at the beginning of Ubuntu 8.10 testing, and I was recommended some xorg.conf somewhere in Launchpad (sorry I can't find the thread), so this could still be that one unless it has been changed through some update.

Could you explain what you mean by "in choose screen system menu"? I'm unclear on what exactly you're referring to.

Usually, System -> Einstellungen -> Bildschirmauflösung tells you what kind of screen you have. In this case, that tool only says "Unbekannt", meaning "unknown screen type". (The max resolution, however, has been identified ok and has automatically been chosen).

Monitor names are determined by the capplet, not X. reassigning.

You forgot to attach your Xorg.0.log so I wasn't able to check if X got the monitor ID right, from your EDID, but I'll assume it did.

affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) → gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

Is your screen name correctly detected now? My screen names on the bug this bug was marked a duplicate of are now correctly shown. If your screen is still not showing properly, this bug is not a duplicate of mine.
