Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc

Hi all,

network-manager-vpnc does not support NetScreen/Juniper firewall. Since 0.4.0, vpnc is able to connect to Juniper firewall with the "--vendor netscreen" option. I once submitted a patch to the network-manager mailing-list to fix this. The patch was accepted and Hardy has it. However, the latest Intrepid version of network-manager-vpnc is lacking support for this type of firewall.

Thank you.

FYI. Upstream will work on this soon [1]. Support for NetScreen/Juniper was in 0.6.x but has not been integrated in 0.7.x yet.

I'm using this patch [1] at the moment. This is not a fix but an acceptable workaround for me. This patch has been committed upstream in April 2009 but I don't know why it is not in the latest karmic version!?

Has there been any progress on this issue? The "Network Connect" applet is horrible, I would much prefer to have a more integrated solution.

In karmic, the vpnc plugin for network-manager contains the patch. So you can set the option in gconf directly for the corresponding vpnc profile. But still no GUI option for this :-(

Btw. if you set this option manually, every single change to the VPN profile will erase it so you need to re-add it again.
