Bug Description

I just dist-upgraded to dapper latest and now get on Kernel 2.6.15 this error
message at the very top of the screen (I'm not using usplash):

The message did not appear on 2.6.12.

This is on a Dell Latitude X1, with the following PCI devices:

Can you try this with Feisty and attach the full dmesg output?

This appears to be no more then a warning of some sort. I'm still tracking down the root cause. Does Ubuntu appear to function correctly?

As far as I can say, mostly. Which part could be affected by this error?

It looks like the parts that hang off of the second PCI bridge are the AC'97 Audio Controller and AC'97 Modem Controller. I'm speculating that the BIOS does not have the bridge resources setup correctly, though in this case it looks benign (assuming sound works).

Sound works. I have never tried the modem.

If the error is harmless, could you hide it from the eyes of the user? It is the only message appearing when booting, and it looks terrible and distracting.
