Bug Description

If I log out of a KDE session and go back to KDM (rather than shutting down or
restarting), KDM no longer responds to any keyboard input. The mouse works, but
any attempt to type in a password or use a keyboard shortcut will not work.

Steps to reporoduce
1) Log into a KDE session
2) Log out, and choose "End current session".
3) When back in KDM, try typing in the password field. Nothing happens.

Confirming the earlier report. Same problem.

New install of Kubuntu 5.10 AMD64 with Nvidia drivers installed and updates/security patches applied.
Keyboard 'Num Lock' & 'Caps Lock' lights can be toggled indicating that the keyboard is not locked up.

Kubuntu Dapper 6.06 here. Updated from 5.10 via network. Latest updates installed. I have this bug now: it happens randomly. Didn't happen with 5.10 .

When it happens, I restart the X Server, using the mouse to select the command from the kdm Menu, and the keyboard works again.

I use the 'nvidia' driver.

I have it in Intrepid. But under vmware only. So I'm not sure it's not linked to vmware. I'll leave it closed for now.

I have a "cannot open user face" message in the logs, so I suppose that in fact I'm seeing bug #37529
