Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-network-admin
When setting a proxy in gnome the system wide button only sets the proxy that is listed in the "Manual proxy configuration" heading. If the Direct internet connection option is checked and the apply system-wide button is pressed, the manual proxy configuration settings are applied.
If i were to put proxy.proxy.net port 80 into the manual configuration and hit system wide then switch to direct internet connection and hit system-wide again, the proxy wouldn't change from the terminal. Apt would continue to use the proxy along with any other CLI based network tool. The only way, that I found, to reset the proxy is to clear out the manual configuration and hit Apply system-wide again.
I don't know if this is the expected behavior however it is ambiguous and can become easily frustrating.

Thanks for your bugreport.
Could you please test the current version in the archive (1:2.23. 90-0ubuntu11) and let me know if that fixes the issue?
