Bug Description

Instead of sending a mail, the mail stays in the local outbox folder. Neither
"File->Send outbox now" ("Datei->Postausgang versenden") nor restarting kmail helps.

KMail Version: 1.9.1
Ubuntu: Dapper Drake, updated 2005-12-22

I just sniffed my traffic on eth0 while clicking "send now", KMail does not even
open a SMTP connection.

I just ran kmail from a terminal, it prints
'klauncher meldet: Unbekanntes Protokoll "smtp".' (klauncher reports: unknown
protocol "smtp".)

A quick "apt cache search kde smpt" returns only one package, and after
installing the package "kdebase-kio-plugins", it works!

So please, let either kmail either display a dialog box if its "kio-plugin" for
smtp (or any other required protocol) is missing, or let the
kmail package depend on kdebase-kio-plugins.

Thanks,

Martin

kmail depends on kdepim-kio-plugins | kdebase-kio-plugins so if you don't have kubuntu-desktop installed (which depends on kdebase-kio-plugins) this could happen

surely anyone wanting to use kmail plans on sending mail so should kdebase-kio-plugins be a depend?

The latest kmail package has a dependency on kdepim-kio-plugins | kdebase-kio-plugins, I think this bug can be closed.
