Bug Description

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

With a 24 pixel high panel (which I believe is the standard size), the first line of the icon is missing.
The panel size has to be increased to at least 26 pixel for the icon to fit in.

This is a minor problem, but the result lacks polish ; moreover the same icon was used for the former logout applet in Hardy, and didn't have this problem.

I second this, it's minor, but is bad-first-impression.

The difference to hardy seems to be that there is several pixel's worth of background-colour padding above and below the actual display of the switcher applet's content. This padding is not present in the hardy quit applet, or the intrepid logout and shutdown applets.

I can also confirm this bug on 8.10 Beta default install.

Present in fast-user-switch-applet version 2.24.0-0ubuntu2. Screenshot provided (user name blurred for paranoia).

draimus, could you please resize the panel to 26 pixels, take a screenshot and attach it here? I know how it should look like, but it would be nice for people to see the difference. Maybe you can put both in the same image (it will be much easier to compare). Thanks.

I have made some screenshots and pasted the two icons together. On top is how it looks with 26 pixels and on the bottom with 24 pixels.

The icon itself is 24x24 pixels. I have no idea how this can happen

Kenneth: my guess is that the 24x24 icon is being used inside the FUSA applet, resulting in something like a one-pixel border padding compared to the usual icon ?

See attached picture where I put the 24x24 icon directly next to the FUSA applet.

If that image Thierry posted is really using the same icon in both positions (which I'm sure it is) then it looks like the drop shadow is getting cropped in the FUSA applet too.

Actually it cuts 2px from top and 2px from bottom, the left and right margins are ok.

If you switch the theme to something else, like Mist or Clearlooks, the power icon is replaced with gnome's little green running man, who is not clipped or cropped.

This appears to have been fixed by some update issued on the 21st.
