Bug Description

If you use the default luminosity and contrast in totem-xine (50% of the
slider), the image quality is very bad: much too light, especially compared to
what you get with the same settings using totem-gstreamer.

If you compare the output of totem-gstreamer (then close totem) to xine-ui do they have similar constrast settings?

No. Using the default settings, the output is much brighter in xine-ui than in totem-gstreamer. But I'm not sure I understood your question...

Well, after further testing, I have more information:

 - If I use totem-gstreamer with the "XWindows (no XV)" plugin, the output is correct
 - If I use totem-gstreamer with the "XWindows (X11/XShm/XV)" plugin, the output is way too bright.
- If I use xine-ui, the output is exaclty the same as with totem-gstreamer and the "XWindows (X11/XShm/XV)" plugin. That means way too bright.

What driver are you using? I've encountered the same issue on my laptop with xserver-xorg-driver-i810 while my desktop with xserver-xorg-driver-ati works fine. If you are using i810-driver, this bug may be a duplication of #6494 (xserver-xorg-driver-i810 Output too bright).

Yes, my laptop has an intel 810 video card, so I guess it's a dup of #6494.
