Bug Description

Hi everyone

Yesterday I was very happy because the live CD Dapper Flight 3 opened w/ the right screen definition 1280x1024 for my 17" LCD screen Hyundai ImageQuest L70S.

BUT

this morning big surprise: I open it the same way and, as in flight 2, I'm stuck to 1024x768, no other higher choice???

How come, w/ the same PC and the same live CD????

Hope you'll find a solution to avoid these back and forth. Anyway it's only Flight 3, we have time!!!

Have a nice day

UNBELIEVABLE

I did a reboot and I'm now 1280x1024. Why such a random set-up, I really don't understand???

That's weird indeed. You didn't provide any boot option at all, did you ?

What do you mean boot option?

I run under the live CD and that's all. By the way I'm back to 1024x768 today??? completely random!!!

I seem to be stuck in 640x480 vga hell. amd sempron 2GHz, 512MB DDR, Nvidia Ge Force MX 4 (64MB). I tried to change the screen resolution from the first boot screen 'live cd' and it made no difference. tried to change the screen resolution using the gui tool after i booted and that didn't work either. only 640x480 is shown as available mode.

Saw a discussion in one of the forums about running 'sudo...' to reconfigure the x.org configuration and did that as well. still no joy. very puzzling really.

Still a problem with the latest version.
I gave 1600x1200 at the start of the live cd boot.
But it reverted to 1024x768 when X started later.
5.10 worked fine in this respect

Today the "fixed" install, either from upgrade or from scratch is doing fine in respect to this point.

I'll have to download, burn and try the new live CD F6. I'll do it this week and come back to you

screen resolution is OK, but the latest live CD flight 6, today's
release, does not work fine, sorry

Whatever you click on: icon or menu does not operate, no action

If I understand it correctly, doing an install has no issues but the Livd CD still doesn't work for you? I'm assuming this is on Flight 6.

Could you please add at least xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log?

Thanks

If I understand correctly Fabio, you want a copy of the content of:

xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log under live CD

BUT where do I get them? do you have the path please? Thx

Try running the following two commands on your system:
wget http://www.ubuntulinux.nl/files/pastebin
python pastebin --debug-x

That will first download a debugging script from ubuntulinux.nl. Running it will in turn gather all the log files and output we should need and paste it to a URL at http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org

If you then just paste that URL into a new comment here we should have what we need. Thanks! You can see a sample of what is collected here: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/11955

Here we go Fabio and Henrik, I followed Henrik 's recommendation and applied it on the latest today's live CD (April 13).

I've still got, after 1 or 2 clicks, no reaction on other icon click

The URL, result of the commands, is

http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/12176

is it what you expected? I'll be away for one week, so don't be surprised if I don't answer (rapidly I mean) any request from you in this timeframe!!!

Can somebody please try to make clear what problem is left out of this bug?

And please please please file ONE bug for each problem... this is another bug impossible to close or to handle.

for some reason the pastebin stuff doesn't seem to be providing the information.

Felix or gerard, could you please attach the following two files using the 'Include attachment' option?

/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
