Thanks for the report.

As far as I'm aware, it does. You can define keys for 'Launch Web Browser', 'E-mail', 'Play', 'Stop' etc in the relevant sections in the dialog.

Is this what you are referring to?

It dose allow threw the dialog box, but I am looking for a solution that easily allows me to do this without going threw terminal to find out what keycode a certain key is (threw xmesg), then go to try get some application to have recongized, then goto Keyboard Shortcuts to have gnome rocoginzed it so it can work. This is because at times certain keys are not recoginzed easily.

It should do this all these steps easily in the Keyboard Shortcuts Dialog Box.

Which version of Ubuntu do you use? In the gnome-keybinding-properties dialog, I can easily click on the "Play/Pause" line, then press the Play/Pause key on my keyboard and configure it that way. Does that help somehow? Or is this not possible for you?

Could you get the key event generated by that key with xev and copy it to a comment?

Yes I could, but the problem is that most people who are new to Linux would not know how to do that. This will pose a great usability problem.
