Thanks for your report.

From your log file the error is:
=====
Setting up python-reportlab (2.1dfsg-2) ...
pycentral: pycentral pkginstall: not overwriting local files
pycentral pkginstall: not overwriting local files
dpkg: error processing python-reportlab (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
=====

Did you install a previous version of the package by hand ?
Could you please provide the output of the command:
sudo pycentral -v pkginstall python-reportlab

Thanks.

Hello Jean-Baptiste.

I do not remember to have installed a previous version of python-reportlab,
maybe it is was required by other application via synaptic or aptitude
installation method..

This is the output of the supplied command:

~$ sudo pycentral -v pkginstall python-reportlab
pycentral: pycentral -v pkginstall python-reportlab
pycentral: reading /usr/share/pyshared-data/python-reportlab
pycentral: Using python-version from pkgconfig: all
pycentral: avail=['2.5'], pkg=all, install=['2.5']
pycentral: install package python-reportlab
pycentral: link shared files python2.5/python-reportlab
pycentral: pycentral pkginstall: not overwriting local files
pycentral pkginstall: not overwriting local files

If your need more info please let me know. And thanks a lot for your
support.

Cheers, Félix.

Thanks for the update.

The workaround is either to removed the manually installed package or to set overwrite-local=1 in /etc/python/debian_config before running the upgrade.

Reaffecting to pycentral

Don't hesitate to submit any new bug.

What is the bug in python-central?

The bug is not with pycentral itself but with the way dist-upgrades are handled. Almost all failures in python module upgrade from hardy to intrepid are due to this error with pycentral. mvo and pitti have discussed about it in bug 291262 . This needs to be modified in order to not break the upgrade for regular Ubuntu users.

I agree with doko, but whatever. This is a dupe then.
