korganizer / kontact Remote Calendar complains of webdav failure when prompted with a 401-authentication and won't provide credentials the first time

Bug Description

Binary package hint: korganizer

I use remote calendars, stored on a webdav apache server using Basic Authentication.

Whenever I make changes to a calendar and those changes are written to the server (I have it set to do this immediately), I get a Failure message "Error while saving <calendar-name>". If I right-click on the calendar and choose "SAVE" it works fine.

Sniffing this traffic, I see the first (failed) attempt is actually the initial "401 Authenticate" message, and the attempt that succeeds includes the Auth headers in the HTTP.

I've attempted to include the name/passwd in the URL and it still doesn't handle this well. I still fail the first time.

I don't even care if it fails the first time... just don't tell me about it! Tell me when it fails *after* it tries the appropriate credentials... Best case, however, would be to provide credentials on the first attempt, as long as the PKI stack is sane (or already excepted), otherwise ask the user.

Hi again :)

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
