Bug Description

That's what I see on white screen background

and then it freezes forever with spinning fan noise.
I tried released 8.10 alternative cd, todays (Nov 4, 2008) daily desktop 8.10 build CD and 8.10 server CD. In all cases I was trying both 'install-powerpc64' and 'install-powerpc64 video=ofonly'. Same result.
At the same time released 8.04 is installed right now and works just fine with an exception of noisy fan. I was trying to resolve fan issue by building latest kernel but it also failed after install with the same problem.

I'm willing to do any debug/checkup possible. Please let me know what kind of info I can provide. I'm really interested in this setup with ubuntu running on PowerPC and no fan noise.

I try Ubuntu Jaunty PPC live CD and alternate CD as well as Xubuntu.
I' m a totally noob, but would be very happy if this bug can be solved.

I also have this with my iMac G5 rev C (iSight) on Desktop Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 (ubuntu-9.10-desktop-powerpc.iso).

In particular, I have the *exact same* display string found:

/pci@0,f0000000/ATY,Aphrodite2Parent@0/ATY,Aphrodite2_B@1

I have very slightly different device tree strings and device tree struct:

Device tree strings 0x0000000002c5b000 -> 0x0000000002c5c5ed
Device tree struct 0x0000000002c5d000 -> 0x0000000002c66000

However the symptoms are identical.

I've tried

live-nosplash
video=ofonly
modprobe ide_core
break=top

as boot options, but none of these options seem to improve the situation.

Is there a way I can turn on debugging or provide more detailed logging information?
