Could you please explain why you think it would be useful?

Oh,I'm sorry. I've misdeemed.

"-u" option was necessary when I tried to use ntpdate with firewall.
So I've used "-u" option since then.
Now, I executed ntpdate & ntpdate-debian command without "-u" option.
They could access ntpserver with firewall(ufw) without "-u" option.

Hi, I know its been quite some time on this bug, but I'm cleaning up old ntp bugs atm to get a better view.

The option has been there all the time in ntpdate.
Over all the time it did never become more than a wishlist and nobody else ever asked for it.

Since the switch to systemd default timekeeping is also no more in ntpdates hand by default.
That said I'll set the bug to incomplete expecting that nobody "cares" about it anymore.
That way it can time out - if you really think it is worth to be pursued, please set it to new again and provide some more reasoning why it should be changed.
