Bug Description
In edit > preferences > advanced > updated "check for updates" is turned on, and the box is greyed out so I can't edit it.
To disable it I had to use preferenced > advanced > general > config editor. Then find the app.update.* keys and turn them off. Obviously this is not the most helpful way to do things.
As a side note, I'd guess this should be off by default, as I want to let my package manager do it's job and not be talked into trying to install a Mozilla.org build.

Thunderbird 1.5 in dapper doesn't actually prompt for updates, regardless of what the preference box seems to indicate under the grey area.
