Bug Description

M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 sound card doesn't work properly in Breezy Badger. Gnome system sounds are played only in mono from left speaker and at wrong speed (half or 1/4 speed). If I install XMMS via Automatix 5.2, it plays mp3's a bit better, but XMMS volume control doesn't work and Gnome volume control in upper right corner acts funnily: it's like the left channel is played twice, increasing volume adds more to left channel than to right.

I've tried to fix this for 2 days with two fresh Breezy install and I can't get it to work.

The issue of left speaker-only has been addressed with the latest alsa-tools upload in Dapper/6.06 LTS, and the ice17xx drivers themselves have been backported from 1.0.11. Please try Dapper/6.06 LTS and reply with your experiences.

Sound works in Ubuntu 6.06 with gstreamer, but I don't get any sound that is played through esd.
I was able to work around this with a custom configuration, but it isn't relliable, because it relies on my soundcard being hw:3, which is sometimes the case and sometimes not...

The kernel side of this bug seems fixed.
