ReiserFS breaks ubuntu boot splash

Bug Description

On my computer I use the Reiser file system (ReiserFS) instead of ext3. However, the nice looking boot splash jumpes to the bare console mode at the point when ReiserFS plays back the journal. This happens during every boot-up. Once dropped into the console mode, the nice ubuntu splash screen does not appear anymore but the boot process continues in the console mode until xorg takes over.

usplash has to flip due to lack of fsck progress, if it were able to use that, it could behave better
