Bug Description
Binary package hint: mpd
Release: 8.10
Source: 0.13.1 from intrepid respositories
The current mpd releases do not support the ID3 Album Artist tag.
This means that a compilation album which has multiple artists will not show up as 1 album but as multiple. To correct this behavior one could set the album_artist tag and have the album_artist tag override the artist tag when it is set.
This results in that a compilation album from for example 2 Many DJ's will show up as one Album instead of multiple even though the Artist tag for each song is different.
Though this is not a bug in the Ubuntu MPD package per se a simple patch was developed on an Ubuntu system and though it was submitted to MPD's bugtracking system we thought it might be worth to submit it here too and get it included in an upcoming release or a less hacky version of this solution.
Granted, this is a bit ugly but it works and might make some people happy,
