Bug Description

This is just a feature request.

Is there any chance of packaging a kernel for 8.10 with PREEMPT=y and the interrupt timer set to 1000HZ as the RT kernel is very broken for 8.10? I've built a kernel with these options from the Ubuntu sources and it has greatly increased performance with jack for audio work and doesn't seem to have any of the downfalls associated with the current (broken) RT kernel.

Thanks very much

@shockdiode ,

Why don't test Jaunty rt kernel instead?

Thanks!

@Alessio,

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that actually. 2.6.28-3-rt won't even boot for some reason on my Intrepid install (amd64) I'm just running a custom build of 2.6.28-4 with CONFIG_HZ=1000 for audio stuff at the moment as that is running just fine for audio work for me.

 I'll try rt again in the future maybe, but frankly I've had enough problems with it recently that I'll probably just continue to build my own in the future.

Thanks

Ok this bug/wishlist should be open against linux package because it is related to -generic kernel.

The following documents the targeted flavours for karmic - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/Specs/KarmicKernelFlavours . It's not likely this additional flavor will be created so marking this as Won't Fix for now.
