Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Laptop has native panel resolution of 1400x1050 which works fine with a bare xorg.conf.

However if I try to change resolution (for example with xrandr -s 1024x768) I get a blank screen. I can restart gdm and login again but of course I get the default resolution of 1400x1050.

This used to work even a couple of weeks ago, I could even add oddball resolutions with xrandr --newmode and switch to it, so it's something that's happened quite recently to break it.

Currently on 2.6.28-5 because the newer kernel oopses on boot - a known bug.

I can confirm this on my MSI Wind (Intel 945GM) on Jaunty Alpha 4. When I start Jaunty with my external LCD display connected, Kubuntu set my both displays to 800x600 (natvie resolution on Wind is 1024x600 and 1440x900 on LCD) resulting blank screen on Wind internal display. Restarting KDM seems to fix this issue.

This looks to be fixed in the latest update. I can now switch modes fine with xrandr. Thanks!
