Bug Description

Binary package hint: wxbanker

wxBanker 0.4.1.0 was released which is a bug-fix only release (and translation update) which addresses 4 bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wxbanker. Release: https://launchpad.net/wxbanker/0.4/0.4.1.0

I am the upstream author and universe maintainer. Please let me know what information I need to provide. The packaging is maintained in bzr at lp:wxbanker/0.4, including an updated changelog for 0.4.1.0, so doing an export of that and then a debuild -S should create the desired package information.

I've attached a diff from the current version in Jaunty (0.4.0.2~bzr102-0ubuntu1) to the 0.4.1.0 release, which is bzr 111. Most of the beginning changes are just re-parenting widgets in a control to get back tooltips.

Failed to realize it was a bug-fix only release. Sorry about that.

However, the patch does not apply cleanly, appears to be reversed. Please provide a patch that works with the source package in LP.

Bug fix only updates don't need FFe.

Morten, the patch isn't reversed, it is already in the upstream LP branch, which is where it came from. That branch is also where the packaging is maintained, so a bzr export of lp:wxbanker/0.4 is identical to the tar.gz release and contains debian/ ready to debuild. Can you clarify what you want, a patch that applies against what? A debdiff? Okay, thanks!

Michael, a debdiff would be nice.

As I understand it from James Westby, a debdiff won't work. The packaging is maintained upstream so the upstream 0.4.1.0 release contains everything ready to build and upload, no modifications necessary. If there are any other questions let me know, otherwise as far as I am aware this is out of my hands and into MOTUs / UUS. Thanks :)

There are binary files changed, so a debdiff from the current version
can't apply.

The description of the bug points to a tarball that has all the packaging, so
we could treat that as a native package and just upload it as is.

I'm not really sure what the best thing to do here is. I suggest the above is
good enough, what does everyone else think?

Thanks,

James

Well, technically the Maintainer should be MOTU (also pycompat is automatically generated when building the source package). So attached is a diff.gz which is the standard patch for new upstream releases. So no more problem. =)

Anything else I can do to help this along? Fixing these bugs and adding 8 or so translated languages is quite important, at least to me :) As James said, the upstream tarball has all the Ubuntu packaging and could be treated as the native package, ready to upload. Let me know, thanks!

I guess there is not much time left for this to make it in. Does it help that it is in my PPA; would that mean it can just be copied over and have the changelog adjusted to change the target and version (removing ~ppa)?

James, can you just confirm that uploading as a native package is acceptable? If so then I have a wonderful MOTU volunteer to do it, thanks!
