Bug Description
update-notifier told me that there are new updates (including linux-kernel), after these packages got installed it told me that it wants to reboot the machine. after clicking on the reboot link gnome ends and x stands there forever, mouse can be moved but nothing else happens.
while going to a real console a 'shutdown -r now' does reboot the machine.
had this two times with dapper.

I've seem this too (but not in recent updates). If it happens again on a console can you do ps auxw > ~/reboothang.txt and then attach ~/reboothang.txt to this bug? If you happen to know which process is actually halting the logout using strace on it may give us more clues...
