Bug Description

After upgrading to dapper, xinerama no longer outputs any signal to my external monitor. I am running a ati radeon 7500 mobility-card. It detects the secondary screen, and even starts xinerama againsti it, but with no signal I can not see what is on the other monitor...

If I don't mention anything about the other screen they run in clone mode.

I'll attach my xorg.conf in a few seconds.

If I uncomment the two lines at the bottom, xinerama starts but there is no signal on the external monitor. As they now stand, the screens run in clone-mode

Yes. I tested a MergedFB-config and got the same result as bug:29353

I did a new Install (flight4 - daily updates - so now I am on flight 5),
 I confirm the bug.
I have a Laptop Fujitsu Siemens 8020 with

ATI Technologies, Inc. M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]

with ati drivers i get no signal on external monitor but I can move the windows and mouse to the (black) screen.

So logically the xineraa seams to work.
Only the screen remains black.

External screen uses DPMS, so Timing should not be the problem.

if I use fglrx drivers and activate "Big Desktop" Mode, I get a signal!
but thers seeme other Bugs...
with the gpl driver there is garbage on screen.
gdm or kdm lets me move the mouse to the external screen
after logon the mouse and windows are limited to the internal (Laptop) screen.

This seems to be fixed now.

I checked it on my Laptop
ATI Technologies, Inc. M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]

with
xserver-xorg-driver-ati 6.5.7.3-0ubuntu7

I had this problem as well with a very similar setup and it seems to be fixed here as well.

My xorg.conf looks very similar to the one posted by the bug reporter.
