1600x1200 resolution not offered though hardware supports it

Bug Description

I have an nvidia GForce 7800 series card and a Viewsonic VP201b monitor. Both are capable of 1600x1200 resolution, but it is not offered as an option in the GNOME screen resolution application.

If I change from the nv driver to the nvidia driver it all works.

I just checked - it is still a problem with a fully up to date Ubuntu.

I'm running the amd64 version, if that makes any difference.

Thanks, yes I think you're right. Also, 3137 and 49827 are probably related.

One thing you could try is installing displayconfig-gtk and see if you can set up the resolutions using that tool.

Otherwise, the workaround is to hand-edit your xorg.conf to add in the missing resolution (and add/fix/remove the refresh rates as needed).
