Bug Description

On an updated (2006-03-11) Dapper Flight 4 install after waking up my Compal CL56 laptop from sleep mode I always get the logout dialog (even if I put the laptop to sleep using the sleep function key) and I have to press Cancel to continue working. This does not happen after waking up from hibernate.

This is caused by the laptop emiting a POWER BUTTON acpi event after resuming. The same if you press the power button in the laptop.

i am seeing this if i sleep by pressing the powerbutton and choosing sleep from the log out menu.

if i sleep from system -> logout i do not see the message on waking

found a simpler way to demonstrate this.

press the powerbutton, the log out screen appears, click cancel, the the log out screen goes and then comes back.

The same with me (HP nx8220 PG802EA), both: [System-> logout -> Sleep] & [Power Button -> Sleep] causes appearing logout dialog on resume. Dapper Beta with current updates (2006-04-25).

Also screen is not locked. But this probably due to bug in gnome-screensaver.

Maybe it isn't same bug, but...

When I close the lid *before* hiberante (or sleep) calls gnome-screensaver, copmputer will (after waking up) run lid.sh which starts gnome-screensaver.

the lid.sh issue seems to be something for the acpi-support package

The suspend mechanism has changed since yesterday. Can people with sleep support on their boxes give it a try and report whether the problem is gone ? Thank you :)

Wow ! That's so nice. The desktop should appear as smooth as it
disappear (this is a gnome-screensaver matter).

Great work !

actually - sorry to say. i have this problem still and im on feisty.
after every resume from suspend the logout dialog is active and i have to cancel. frequently im also told that suspend failed but thats a different bug i guess. if this is hardware related im on acer 1640. maybe i should start a new bug but this looks relevant.
thanks
