Bug Description

Ubuntu 6.04 Dapper (Flight5)
gnome-volume-control 2.13.93

Description of the crash:
My SB Audigy 1 seems to have two PCM volume controls. Only one
of them seems affect to the volume. I was trying to get the one
that's working to show on the applet and make the other one
hidden. After playing with enable/disable checkboxes and
succeeding to do this, volume cotrol applet crashed.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. select preferences from volume control applet
2. disable PCM volume control (slider) that's not affecting to
volume and enable one that's working
3. try to restart applet and it will crash

Expected Results:
applet has the working PCM control enabled and showing,
non-working disabled and hidden

How often does this happen?
Often.

oh well, once I compiled gnome-media package with debug symbols, I can't reproduce bug anymore.. :-/

I got this by enabling/disabling two separate PCM controls.

Do you still have the issue on dapper?

I can't reproduce this on Edgy. I have Dapper still as backup system, but I dunno if this bug is worth hunting when no one else has confirmed it and conditions where it happened were very hard to reproduce as well.

You may close it if you wish, upstream knows about it and people can reopen this if it occurs again.

Think this might be the same bug. When I use 2 X screens through using 2 monitors on the proprietary nvidia driver the volume control reproducibly crashes every time I use the laptop hotkeys to adjust the volume. I'm not sure if it's because there are two instances and they fight over the hotkey or if it's related to this. The applet then gives me the choice of whether to restart. On occasion, other applets have crashed too (only when using 2 X Screens). Please tell me if I need to open it as a new bug. Thanks. (Hardy, Asus A8 laptop)
