Bug Description
powernow-k8 doesn't load on dapper (it did on breezy). Messages I could catch:
/var/log/syslog:
Mar 16 02:01:15 sheep kernel: [4295947.539000] powernow-k8: MP systems not supported by PSB BIOS structure
/var/log/messages:
Mar 16 02:01:15 sheep kernel: [4296066.588000] powernow-k8: Found 1 AMD Athlon 64 / Opteron processors (version 1.50.4)
console:
FATAL: Error inserting powernow_k8 (/lib/modules/
the CPU is an AMD Sempron 3100+, which normally supports clock steps at 1000 and 1800 MHz. Mainboard Asus K8N-E Deluxe. With Bios-Version 1006 I had 800MHz, with version 1011 (latest) 1800MHz now.

I have the same exact problem on a machine with Dapper on AMD64 Turion.
That's what dmesg | grep powernow says about:
[ 31.117297] powernow-k8: Found 1 AMD Athlon 64 / Opteron processors (version 1.50.4)
[ 31.117307] powernow-k8: MP systems not supported by PSB BIOS structure
Before i was running an Ubuntu Breezy and everything was woking fine.
I suppose this problem it's related to the kernel that enable the smp also on a machine that actually doesn't have double processor.
I really hope the problem will be fixed soon.
