Bug Description

Host is a dual core (Intel 920) based system with a Diamond Stealth PCI Express video card based on the ATI Radeon X300SE chipset. To reproduce the feature I simply open firefox then grab it's title bar and simply begin to move it around on the screen and within a few very short seconds the host locks up requiring a hard boot. I can switch the driver from "ati" to "vesa" and all is well. Given this I made the assumption that the feature is associated with the Xorg ATI (Intrinsic) Driver or at least something it requires to operate.

Thanks!

Those bugs look like complete server failures; in this case it sounds like the server starts up and works mostly, but crashes

I have a similar issue on similar hardware. Flight 6, Flight 7, Beta 2 and RC live CD lock up as soon as I start firefox on a machine that is currently running Dapper.

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook P2120

0000:00:14.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M6 LY

The trick is that the live CD tries running xorg at 24 bpp, which makes DRI fail to initialize and results in the lockups on dapper. Changing the default display depth (as I've done on the installed machine since Breezy) results in working DRI and no lockups (so far). Changing the display depth works on the live CD too.

I also have a Fujitsu Lifebook P2120 and had the same problem with Dapper 6.06

I dropped the depth from 24 to 16 and have not had a problem since ... nock on wood.

Can anyone confirm this is still an issue or fixed in Feisty (or newer)?
