Help button doesn't work in gnome-about-me

seems it's not implemented yet.

In the meantime, can the button be simply removed as a temporary fix?

Here's a patch to the .glade file to hide the button ...

Remove the above, it doesn't work for some reason. Nevertheless, you get the idea :-)

Why dropping the feature rather than fixing it?

AFAIK from upstream comments, the problem is that there is no documentation to go with the Help button. So IMVHO it's better to hide the button until somebody writes up the documentation so that users don't click on it and wonder "why doesn't is show help". It's not a solution of course. It's a workaround until somebody writes the docs.

I agree better to remove the help button if there is not helptext available.

Same problem with gnome-appearance-properties ... clicking the help button does not launch ghelp nor display anything else.
  System -> Preferences -> Appearance

I ran through the remaining applets in System -> Preferences and System -> Administration and the rest that have a help button all launch ghelp.

The button is still there causing nothing...

Surely this is a security issue as users might complete their personal details but have no information/guidance on how their details are accessed and how it is protected.

As the original bug reporter on this I feel the security comment is rather extreme and does not reflect my current thinking.

This has been resolved in Hardy. There is no longer a help button in the About Me dialog.
