Bug Description

I did a regular system update and the kernel above was installed.

I had sound on Dapper Flight 4 + all upgrades since installation.

After this upgrade, sound is gone.

The error from the system when trying to open sound controls is:

No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.

My sound card from lspci:

My installed modules are as follows from lsmod:

^^ Why is this module loaded? In addition to the information that Matt requests, please _attach_ (please don't comment inline) the output from ``cat /proc/asound/modules''.

To those who are thinking about upgrading and have the AC97, the bug is still in Dapper Beta.

This is not a kernel/sound bug, it seems to be another issue altogether, possibly (assignable to) gdm or gnome-session, as evidenced by the fact that you can hear something when the gdm greeter appears.

Again, please _attach_ (last time you commented inline) the output from ``amixer -c0 && lsof /dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*'' while logged into GNOME.

I have sound again. I just ran through the BIOS without changing a thing and at login, I heard the login sound and the music while the desktop was loading. Streaming music now. If it goes off again, I will follow the directions above for what you requested.
