I was going to upload this but looks like there are some more serious issues to be resolved first? Also, should there be a celestia-gnome.desktop and celestia-glut.desktop? Thanks.

AFAIK, celestia-glut and celestia-gnome can be installed at the same time. You need a different command to run each of them anyway, so the 'Exec=' line is different for each package.
