Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

However, we need some additional information before starting to work on this bug

1. How did you get to 9.04, upgrade or fresh install?
1A. Did this printer work on a previous version of linux.
2. The disk you installed, was it specificially for linux?
3. Would you please provide the full model number of the printer ex: C730-P
4. The next time this problem occurs would you please run the following command
   apport-collect -p cups 369385

thanks

affects: ubuntu → cups (Ubuntu)
Changed in cups (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

According to linuxprinting.org that particular printer is not supported.
This is because the printer mfgr has not released the sw to the open software world.

However, others have gotten various lexmark printers to work
using drivers for other lexmark models.
The following page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/%23 HardwareSupportComponentsPrintersLexmark
under the section for Z705 may help you get your printer working.

linuxprinting.org is a good place to look when you want to determine if
a particular printer is supported under linux

Great, now you have the right brand of printer. For me HP printers also work without problems. HP is doing great work on their drivers.
